Artistic Director, Natalya Martin, also works as an independent sensory practitioner. She was awarded the Boundless Accelerator Bursary in May 2019. Carnival is a new project that is being developed over 2019 - 2022. Carnival is an interactive installation that will creatively explore how mental health and emotional wellbeing affect the lives of teenagers and young adults with complex needs.
Carnival is set on a fictional island surrounded by a body of water, the island is getting ready for its annual carnival, inspired by traditional Caribbean carnival, and audiences will get to explore through live music, dance and colourful multi-sensory experiences. Natalya is working with other creatives of Caribbean heritage on the project including wonderful designer Camille Lesforis.
The installation aims to be a vibrant celebration of our lives and our differences.

The original idea for Sea Girl had been to explore the achievement of Laura Dekker, who holds the world record for being the youngest person to have solo circumnavigated the globe. She was just 14 when she set off and 16 when she completed her trip. We wanted to create a piece of theatre that celebrated this magnificent adventure and how the determination of one girl changed the world.
It was always important for us, that the performance was made to be accessible to disabled children and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The nature of the adventure story means we are able to communicate the story through sights, smells, sounds and textures - perfect for children who best experience and learn through different senses. Therefore, we decided to create multiple versions of Sea Girl all with different specific needs in mind.
